FAQ

How do I set up the PubMed link resolver for my library?

  1. If you haven't already, set up the "Outside Tool" part of the NCBI Link Submission Utility and make sure it points to Alma. If you don't already have credentials to log into "Link Submission Utility," NCBI Support can supply them.
  2. Log into My NCBI (which uses a different set of credentials) to look up your API Key, which needs to be plugged into Alma. You can open "My NCBI" from the banner on the PubMed site.
  3. Open a ticket with OLS Systems (providing your API Key) so they may use the link resolver augmentation profile in Alma to complete the setup on your behalf.
  4. The Alma Resolver Augmentation Configuration lives in Configuration > General > "External Systems": Integration Profiles. (The DOI and CrossRef fields may be skipped.) Set the Status under "PubMed Definitions" to Active and paste in the API Key.

This is all that is necessary to get the "Find It!" button to send patrons to Primo VE from PubMed. It knows your library's holdings and when to give patrons the ILL option.
