I'd like to place an item into a temporary location. What do I need to do?
In order to work with item records, you must have one of the following roles:
- Physical Inventory Operator
- Physical Inventory Operator Extended (required for delete operation; must be combined with Physical Inventory Operator)
1. To move an item to a temporary location, we must open the item in the Physical Item Editor. There are multiple ways to do this. One option is to use the "Physical items" search in the persistent menu to find the item:

(You can scan in a barcode or look up the item with a keyword, title, author, or other search.)
2. Once you have located the item, click on the Edit Item button in the upper right-hand corner of the record:

3. While on the default "General" tab of the Physical Item Editor, scroll down to the "Temporary Location Information" section. Select Yes for the "Item is in temporary location" field and choose the "Temporary location" from the drop-down menu of existing locations in your library:

4. If you wish, you may fill in the additional fields, such as temporary call number and call number type. The "Due back date" indicates the date that an item in a temporary location is due back to its permanent location. Do NOT use the "Temporary Item policy" option.
5. When you're satisfied with your changes, click Save in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
