FAQ

What are Local Params and how are they used?

Because not all fields are indexed for Alma Analytics, Ex Libris allows the customer to request additional MARC21 bibliographic and holding fields to be added. In order to keep these fields standard across all CUNY libraries, please ask OLS if you want to add one.

Bibliographic

  • Up to 10 bibliographic fields and/or subfields can be requested
  • They are only available in the Bibliographic Details shared dimension
  • The names can't be customized
  • Ex Libris support must configure them
  • The field must be greater than or equal to 010
  • The following bibliographic fields have been mapped for CUNY:
    • Local Param 01: 590 field (series)

    • Local Param 07: 976 field (Aleph STA code)

Holdings
