How are material types and resource types calculated in Alma and OneSearch?

Alma Material Type

  • There are seven possible values:
    • Books
    • Computer files
    • Journals
    • Maps
    • Mixed materials
    • Music Records
    • Visual materials
  • This table describes how MARC21 bibliographic fields are mapped to Alma material types.

Alma Resource Type

  • The Resource Type might be slightly different in OneSearch.
  • This table describes how MARC21 bibliographic fields are mapped to Alma resource types.

Primo VE (OneSearch) Resource Type

  • The Resource Type might be slightly different in Alma.
  • This table describes how MARC21 bibliographic fields are mapped into Primo VE resource types.

Example

 

LDR position 06 = a

LDR position 07 = s

008 position 06 = m

008 position 21 = m

008 position 23 = # (blank)

 

The Alma Material Type is Journal, according to this entry in the table:
