FAQ

How should print plus online subscriptions be handled in Alma?

When you have a journal subscription that includes print and online, Ex Libris recommends creating two purchase order (PO) lines. This gives you the flexibility to manage the electronic access and physical items separately while maintaining a link between the orders. If you decide to switch to an online only subscription in the future, you can close the technical PO line for the print and continue to use the primary PO line for the online.

1. Create a main PO line for the electronic inventory.

a. Link to electronic portfolio

b. Acquisition method: Purchase or Purchase at Vendor System

c. Price and fund required

2. Create a second PO line for physical inventory.

a. Link to physical holdings

b. Acquisition method: Technical

c. Do not add price or fund

3. Fill out the "Associated PO lines" fields to link each order to the other order.
