FAQ

How do I add OneSearch as a search source in LibGuides?

Did you know that you can add CUNY OneSearch (Primo) as a search source in LibGuides? This allows you to provide direct search functionality right from your LibGuides!

To set this up, you'll need to open a ticket with OLS to request a read-only Primo Search API key.

Once you have your API key, you'll need the following parameters to configure the search source:

  1. Region: Choose America.
  2. Primo API Key: This is the key you obtained from OLS.
  3. Primo View ID: This can be found in your CUNY OneSearch URL after performing a search. It is in the format 01CUNY_XX:CUNY_XX (where XX is the 2-letter campus code in uppercase letters).
  4. Scope: This is also found in your CUNY OneSearch URL after performing a search. It will usually be "IZ_CI_AW" (which stands for Institution Zone, Central Discovery Index, and CUNY Academic Works).
  5. Primo Tab Name: This is also found in your CUNY OneSearch URL after performing a search. It will usually be "Everything."

For example, after performing a search, your URL will look something like this:
https://cuny-ho.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CUNY_HO:CUNY_HO&search_scope=IZ_CI_AW&tab=Everything&query=any,contains,vegan

From this URL, you can identify:

  • View ID = 01CUNY_HO:CUNY_HO (found in the "vid=" parameter)
  • Scope = IZ_CI_AW (found in the "search_scope=" parameter)
  • Tab Name = Everything (found in the "tab=" parameter)

Please note that Primo is currently only available for use as a search source within LibGuides. Support for Primo as a LibAnswers search source is not yet available.
