FAQ

How do I merge bib records?

When there are duplicate bibliographic records (e.g., they have the same OCLC number) and both records have inventory, the easiest way to handle them is the Merge Records and Combine Inventory tool in the Metadata Editor. This will merge one record into the other and move the inventory from one record to the other.

1. Check the box next to the records you want to combine and click Push Selected to MDE.

2. Open the Metadata Editor.

3. Open the record you want to be the primary record (either the newest or the most complete) by clicking on it in the left pane.

4. Click the Editor split mode button.

5. Open the second record by clicking on it in the left pane. Now the two records are open side by side in the Metadata Editor.

6. Go to Record ActionsMerge & Combine.

7. Choose merge routine "Overlay all fields but local for Integration Profile, Import Profile, Combine and Merge Inventory."

8. Click OK.
