FAQ

How do I overlay a bib record?

If you find a better version of a bibliographic record in WorldCat, you can replace the existing record in Alma with the overlay process. Please only overlay an OCLC record with a different version of the same OCLC record. Do not overlay a different OCLC record or a short record with an OCLC record.

1. Open the existing record in the Metadata Editor in Alma.

2. Go to Search & Browse > Search Resources.

3. Search for a record.

a. "Search Cataloging Profile" should be set to WorldCat.

b. Enter search criteria in the appropriate fields.

c. Click Search.

4. Locate the correct record in the list of results, then click Copy & Overlay.
