FAQ

How do you automatically update your electronic holdings from Ebook Central?

Alma can be set up to retrieve holdings files from ProQuest Ebook Central and manage your electronic resources in Alma based on those files. This feature will activate, deactivate, or update ebooks and ejournals for your institution. This will save time and effort with electronic resource management.

In addition, the Ebook Central autoload supplies this information in the electronic portfolios:

  • Access model (1U, 2U, 5U, NL, or UA)
  • Purchase model (Owned, Subscription, or DDA Candidate)

1. Contact ProQuest Support to enable automatic updates of DDA, owned, and subscription titles. See Requesting ProQuest to Enable Automatic Updates. Also, make sure that you know your Ebook Central site identifier (siteID). See Ebook Central site ID.

2. Contact Alma Support and ask them to set up the required Alma parameters. See Ex Libris Support.

3. Activate the following electronic collection from the Community Zone (CZ):

  • Ebook Central Perpetual, DDA and Subscription Titles (Community Zone Collection ID = 614330000000000002)

Use the following settings:

4. Open a support ticket with OLS to have them create an Ebook Central integration profile. Specify who at your library should receive notifications about the success or failure of the autoload.
