FAQ

How do I place an order on an autoload title?

This article assumes that you have already purchased the ebook from ProQuest/Coutts, EBSCO/GOBI, or another vendor.

Alma is set up to automatically activate newly purchased electronic titles from some providers. Therefore, the workflow for these titles is slightly different from other ebooks that you activate manually. See How and why should I set up automatic upload of electronic holdings? for a description of the process and a list of participating publishers.

1. Wait until the autoload activates the electronic portfolio in your Institution Zone (IZ). The job runs daily, so there shouldn't be a long delay between when you order the ebook and when Alma makes it available.

2. Click Order on the electronic portfolio in the IZ. You must place the order on the electronic portfolio, not on the bibliographic record.

3. Do not use the recommended PO line type. Choose "Electronic Book - One Time."

4. Enter required information in the purchase order line:

  • Acquisition method: choose Purchase at vendor system
  • Material supplier
  • List price
  • Fund

5. Click Save and Continue.

That is the end of the workflow. The ebook is already active, so there's nothing else that needs to be done.
