FAQ

How do I extend due dates past a user's expiration date?

When loaning an item, a "Due date is shortened" alert will appear if the user's due date is beyond their expiration date:

To give the user the full loan period allowed by the relevant loan TOU, click the Extend due date button. (If you click the Ok button, the user's due date will not be extended past their expiration date.)

After this initial extension, due dates cannot be extended beyond the user's expiration date.

In order to have a due date past the user expiration date, the user expiration date must be modified and then the loan can be modified to a new due date.

To manage users, you must have one of the following roles:

  • User Administrator
  • User Manager
  • Circulation Desk Manager
  • Circulation Desk Operator

From the patron workbench, click on the user's ID:

or

In the upper right-hand corner, click Open For Update:

In the "Open For Update" alert that appears, click Yes (you wish to prevent the listed fields from being overwritten). Go to the General Information tab, change the expiration date, and click Save in the upper right-hand corner.

You should be returned to the patron workbench for this user. You may now change the due date of existing loans, check out additional items, etc.
